I am hoping that in the very near future that this will turn into a dialogue with those who have a desire for church reform/revitalization. It is obvious from all points of view that the institution of the Church, in American society is under going a tremendous struggle to discover its identity in terms of the gospel it has been called to proclaim.
The secularization of our society in the last twenty-five years has caught off guard most of our theological institutions as well as the local church. It has been my discover with over 30 years of ministry experience, that the local church for the most part is living in the late 60s and 70s. For our denomination this was a period of great evangelical progress of spreading the gospel. But now in the twenty first century we discover we are stuck back there, trying desperately to blame someone else for our lack of vision.
My hope is that in dialoguing we the Church maybe able to re-evaluate, repent of our apathy and lethargic sin too find the will of God and come back in line with His perfect will for doing the Great Commission. There are many para-church organization and other ministries striving to reach the church with some semblance of making the gospel relevant to society. In the end however, it should be apparent the local body of believers are to be held accountable for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
