Many people within the church believe that we are living in the days of Christ's soon return. Many of the evidences found in Matthew's gospel appear to be happening in greater frequency (Mat. 24). The world is in great upheaval, and even in the last few weeks Israel has stepped up it war preparedness strategies.
Addressing a more pressing issue is the great apostasy of the church found in Paul's letter to the Thessalonians (2 Th. 2:1-4). Could it be that what the church is experiencing is what is described in these verses. For the church to be involved in ministry there might need to be an answer to the question raised in (Rm. 7-8). Is the church led by the Holy Spirit, that is, do individuals know if their relationship is secure in Christ Jesus? At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes a very startling and profound observation (Mat. 7:21-23).
Answering some of these questions might help us to see if we may need to revamp our mission statement, personally and as a church. What do you think?
